The Challenge

Ferguson Enterprises conducts business online through a protected gateway and through traditional channel of brick and mortar stores. The goal is to allow customers to purchase online with as little hassle as possible. Currently for a customer to purchase online they have to jump through hoops to get entered into our legacy systems to have the ability to utilize our eCommerce platform FergusonOnline.com (FOL). The company wants to have the ability to give the customer an Omni-Channel experience, that will easily allow the customers to approach the company in any channel and transition to another with minimal friction. Not only does Ferguson want to retain its current customer base but open up to any customer anonymous or known.

The Solution

As Product Owner for Ferguson.com, I lead the effort to create and sign off on front end designs, work with business analysts to define development requirements, and run sprints to implementation of the platform.

The new Ferguson.com brings the omni-channel experience our customers have been asking for. They are able to purchase online and pick-up at the store, or call in an order and have it delivered. Making the site fully responsive has saved the company the need to run two independent sites just because the customer is on a certain size screen. As a result of releasing the new site, customers who may not have been able to do business with Ferguson before because they did not have an offline account can not make purchases.  These are new sales for the company.
